Military Academy Vyškov celebrates 30 years of training Czech soldiers
The Military Academy Vyškov celebrated its 30th anniversary on October 1, 2026, with a formal ceremony attended by high-ranking officials, including Deputy Minister of Defence René Schreier and Major General Petr Milčický.
Since its official start of instruction in 1996, the institution has evolved from a departmental school of the Ministry of Defence into a central component of the Czech Army's training and education system. Currently, approximately 20,000 soldiers pass through its courses annually, about one-fifth of whom are new recruits.
Deputy Minister Schreier noted the ambition to significantly increase these numbers to meet necessary personnel requirements for the army. While the academy was established in 1996, military training in the Vyškov area, specifically at the Dědice barracks, dates back to the 1930s.
