Military Court reopens investigation into ISU Argeș firefighter death

The Military Court of Appeal has reopened a case involving the death of firefighter Georgel Neacșa, who was killed in a workplace accident on the A1 motorway in May 2022. The incident occurred during a vegetation fire intervention when Neacșa was struck and run over by an ISU Argeș intervention vehicle while performing duties.

Previously, the Bucharest Military Tribunal acquitted the driver, Plt. Adj. Ion Doinea, ruling that the act did not constitute a crime. However, prosecutors and the victim's family have appealed this decision. The appellate court is now seeking evidence regarding whether the firefighters received proper training for reversing maneuvers with heavy specialized vehicles.
