Military developments: Taiwan Marine Corps vests and China aircraft carrier operations
The Taiwan Marine Corps has completed the rollout of new Type I combat vests, designed to enhance survival rates and medical response efficiency. Developed over four years, the modular vests feature an integrated quick-release system that allows personnel to shed the gear in under two seconds for medical treatment or one second underwater to prevent drowning. The equipment, which utilizes Italian DUE EMME modular components for easier maintenance, is being field-tested during the Han Kuang 42 Exercise.
In China, details regarding the operational roles on the Fujian aircraft carrier deck have been highlighted. The carrier utilizes a standardized color-coded vest system to manage the high-risk environment of the flight deck. Different colored vests designate specific duties: yellow for deck commanders, blue for equipment and movement, brown for aircraft maintenance, purple for fuel supply, red for ammunition and safety, green for catapult and arrestor gear maintenance, and white for medical and safety inspection.
