Military experts meet in Bolivia to combat transnational crime

Military personnel and experts from Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Bolivia, and the United States are meeting in La Paz, Bolivia, for the first ‘Multinational Crowd Control and Crisis Management Workshop’. Organized under the framework of the Coalition of the Americas against Cartels, the three-day event aims to coordinate responses and share operational experiences to combat transnational organized crime.

Amanda Porter, counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Bolivia, noted that the meeting addresses common threats such as cartel violence and internal instability that do not respect national borders. Bolivian Defense Minister Ernesto Justiniano emphasized that challenges like drug trafficking and new forms of threats require improved coordination and preparation among nations. The workshop, supported by the U.S. Southern Command, focuses on professional training and the exchange of operational expertise to strengthen regional security cooperation.
