Military forces conduct security and anti-smuggling operations in Colombia and Nicaragua

The Colombian National Army has deployed troops along the Troncal del Caribe as part of the ‘Viaje Seguro’ (Safe Travel) strategy. The operation involves the First Division, the Mountain Battalion No. 6, and the Gaula Militar to enhance traveler security, facilitate mobility, and prevent crimes such as extortion and kidnapping through the ‘Yo No Pago, Yo Denuncio’ campaign.

In Nicaragua, the Nicaraguan Army conducted operations along the southern border to intercept illegal goods. Military units in Jinotega and the RACCS region seized 22 head of undocumented cattle and two boats containing 2,818 pairs of shoes intended for illegal transport to Costa Rica. One individual was detained in connection with the livestock seizure, while suspects fled after abandoning the footwear shipment. Authorities have placed the seized items and individuals at the disposal of competent legal bodies for investigation.
