Military History Museum Dresden to host media and propaganda discussions
The Military History Museum in Dresden is hosting a series of public discussions regarding the role and evolution of media and propaganda.
One scheduled event, titled ‘Is the Fourth Estate in Crisis?’, will take place on July 20, 2026. The panel discussion aims to examine the function of independent media in preventing the abuse of power and whether current criticisms of public and private media signify a broader crisis of democracy. Participants include NDR journalist Anja Reschke, RTL politics and economics editor Nikolaus Blome, and CDU media policy spokesperson Andreas Nowak.
A second event, scheduled for August 24, 2026, focuses on the use of propaganda during the Second World War. This session will specifically analyze how Nazi propaganda utilized media—such as paintings, photographs, and films—to heroize U-boat commanders. The presentation will feature original objects and film excerpts to illustrate these historical media techniques.
