Military leaders achieve milestones in strategic training and regional policy

Colonel Amon Kagina, Commandant of the Military School, has emerged as the best overall student at the National Defence College (NDC) course in China. Kagina, a member of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), previously served in the elite Presidential Protection Unit. His performance in the advanced strategic leadership and national security course is noted as a milestone for UPDF professional development.

In a separate event in Abuja, Nigeria, Minister of Defence retired General Christopher Musa addressed the graduates of NDC Course-34. Musa urged the participants to convert their training into policies that foster industrialisation, inclusive growth, and regional stability across Africa. He emphasized that building a resilient industrial base is a strategic imperative for national security.

The graduation lecture featured former President Goodluck Jonathan, who spoke on harnessing industrial capacity for Africa’s prosperity. Musa highlighted the necessity of transforming natural and human resources into value-added production and technological innovation to ensure lasting peace and economic competitiveness.
