Military records of Ernst Ferdinand Scheid archived

The Military Historical Photo and Document Archive (MFDA) holds the service record and supplementary post-war documents of Ernst Ferdinand Scheid. Born on May 20, 1913, in the Untertaunus district, Scheid was a blacksmith by trade.

Although the physical service book is in poor and incomplete condition, with missing pages and a removed photograph, the remaining entries and a later pension application allow for a reconstruction of his military career. Scheid was drafted in 1936 and officially entered the Wehrmacht in December 1939. Assigned to the Heimat-Pferdepark XII, his role utilized his civilian skills as a blacksmith, primarily serving as a driver (Fahrer vom Bock) and secondarily as a rifleman.
