Military stretcher from 1915 discovered in Antalya trash

A municipal police officer in Antalya, İbrahim Uysal, discovered a historical military stretcher while disposing of trash. The object, featuring worn wooden arms, torn canvas, and a stamp dated 1915, was identified as a significant artifact from the First World War.

After a three-and-a-half-month investigation by the Çanakkale Gallipoli Historical Site Presidency, the stretcher was confirmed to be an original piece. Officials noted that a similar artifact exists in a museum in the United Kingdom, making this a rare find.

Uysal, who declined suggestions to sell the item at auction, donated the stretcher to history. It has been officially registered and placed in a war museum in Çanakkale. Researchers are expected to investigate whether stains on the fabric are traces of blood from the wartime era.
