Milk tanker overturns near Stade, spilling 24,000 liters

A milk tanker truck overturned on Thursday evening on Kreisstraße 53 in the Stade district near Hamburg, resulting in the loss of approximately 24,000 liters of milk.

According to fire department reports, the vehicle veered onto the shoulder for unknown reasons and sank into the soft ground, causing the driver to lose control. The truck struck a tree and tipped onto its side, opening the tank hatches and spilling the contents across the roadway, the roadside, and into a ditch.

The driver sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital. Emergency services worked to pump the remaining cargo out of the containers, though recovery efforts were complicated by the vehicle becoming wedged. The road between Sauensiek and Wiegersen remained fully closed overnight for cleanup and recovery operations.
