Millennials adopt ‘Stability Stacking’ amid job market uncertainty

A growing number of millennials are adopting a trend known as ‘Stability Stacking’ to combat increasing professional uncertainty. This strategy serves as a response to various economic and technological pressures, including advancements in artificial intelligence, rising living costs, and global crises.

In Germany, a survey by Pronova BKK from early 2026 indicates that approximately half of individuals under the age of 40 experience significant anxiety regarding their career futures. This sentiment aligns with OECD findings suggesting that millennials may be the first generation to face lower economic prosperity compared to their parents. While roughly 70 percent of the Baby Boomer generation earned middle-class incomes in their twenties, that figure has dropped to approximately 60 percent for millennials.
