Millevele IREN regatta sees over 200 boats compete in Genoa

The 38th edition of the Millevele IREN sailing regatta took place in the Gulf of Genoa, featuring over 200 participating vessels. Organized by the Yacht Club Italiano, the event divided boats into three categories—Yellow, Green, and Red—based on their length.

Winners in the primary groups included the Melgina (Paolo Brescia) in the Yellow Group, the Blu Sky (Claudio Terrieri) in the Green Group, and the Moonshine (Stefano Brunello) in the Red Group. The event saw variable weather conditions, ranging from north winds to light breezes and westerly winds during the return to Genoa.

Carlo Cameli, president of the Yacht Club Italiano, expressed satisfaction with the high participation levels, noting that the event serves as a barometer for the health of Italian sailing. However, he highlighted a structural challenge for the sport in Genoa: the lack of available mooring spaces, which he suggests is a barrier to further growth.
