Millie De Lune returns to Rosehill after tendon injury

Trainer Matt Smith is taking a cautious approach as the mare Millie De Lune makes her comeback at Rosehill Racecourse on Saturday. The daughter of Puissance De Lune will contest the Congratulations Chris Waller Handicap over 1400 m, her first start since a minor tendon injury halted a promising staying campaign. Smith noted her previous middle‑distance win at Randwick in June 2025 and a midfield finish in the Winx Guineas, saying the injury took a long time to heal but the mare is now sound. Jockey Jay Ford has been confirmed to ride Millie De Lune, while Smith also has Anythink Goes, Astero and World Alliance entered in other Rosehill handicaps.

Smith does not expect a win on debut but believes the mare can be competitive over longer trips of 2000‑2400 m later in the season.
