Deportes Tolima adds Mexican goalkeeper Miguel Ortega and evaluates new coaching options
Deportes Tolima is close to signing Mexican goalkeeper Miguel Ortega, 30, whose market value is listed at €200,000. Ortega, who most recently played for Llaneros FC in Colombia, is expected to travel to Ibagué for medical exams before a formal announcement. The club sees the acquisition as a way to strengthen a key position ahead of the second half of the 2026 season.
At the same time, the club’s board is reviewing candidates to replace departing coach Lucas González. Names circulating include Sebastián Oliveros of Fortaleza CEIF, former Tolima coach Alberto Gamero, Llaneros manager José Luis García, and former options such as Leonel Álvarez, Jorge Luis Pinto and Ever Hugo Almeida. The decision is urgent because Tolima will face the round of 16 in the 2026 Copa Libertadores soon, leaving little time for a new manager to prepare the squad.
