Millorad Dodik leads campaign despite public office ban

Millorad Dodik remains the central figure in the election campaign for Republika Srpska, despite a court ruling prohibiting him from holding public office. Following a final decision by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for failing to implement decisions made by the High Representative, Dodik is legally barred from exercising public functions for six years.

While he does not appear on any candidate lists and formally holds only the position of chairman of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), he continues to dictate the pace of the campaign for the general elections on October 4. Analysts suggest that political power in the entity has become highly personalized, with Dodik maintaining a dominant presence on campaign billboards and in public discourse.

The prominence of Dodik has reportedly overshadowed the current President of Republika Srpska, Sinisha Karan, who assumed office seven months ago following the premature termination of Dodik's mandate.
