Millorad Gjokoviq sentenced to 10 years for war crimes

The Basic Court in Prishtina has sentenced Millorad Gjokoviq to 10 years in prison for war crimes committed against the civilian population. The court found Gjokoviq, acting as a reserve police officer, guilty of violating international laws during the Kosovo war.

The crimes took place on May 7, 1999, in the village of Ozdrim, Peja municipality. According to the indictment, Gjokoviq and others participated in the killing of six Albanian civilians. Additionally, three wounded civilians were executed and buried in the village of Lutogllavë. Five other Albanian civilians remain missing after being killed during the offensive.

The defense has stated they intend to appeal the sentence to the Court of Appeals, arguing that the verdict is unsatisfactory and that they have sufficient material to overturn it.
