Millowitsch’s son Dimitri wins BBAG auction race in Cologne

In the BBAG auction race over 1,300 metres at Weidenpescher Park in Cologne, two‑year‑old Dimitri – a son of the renowned Millowitsch stallion and bred at Gestüt Röttgen – secured a narrow victory. Trained by Henk Grewe and ridden by jockey Thore Hammer‑Hansen, Dimitri held off a late challenge from Indigo Sun, trained by Andreas Suborics, winning by a head. The 20,000‑euro prize was claimed by the Millowitsch offspring, with Taylor Made finishing third.

After the race, trainer Grewe said, “We thought it would be a bit easier, but it was just enough,” while Hammer‑Hansen added, “The race went exactly as we planned, even if it wasn’t as easy as we thought.”
