Milna Mayor Frane Lozić acquitted in long-running land sale case
Frane Lozić, the Mayor of Milna, has been definitively acquitted in a long-running legal case involving the sale of municipal land known as the ‘Czech Camp’. The High Criminal Court confirmed an earlier acquittal, bringing an end to a legal process that began with a criminal complaint in 2009 and an indictment in 2011.
The prosecution, led by USKOK, had accused Lozić of illegal dealings involving the sale of the same property to two different companies. Lozić consistently maintained that his actions were intended to protect the municipal budget and support a bypass construction project.
Following the final ruling, Lozić expressed relief, stating that the decision made him feel ‘as if I were born again’ after nearly 20 years of legal scrutiny. He also addressed political opponents, alleging they had used false accusations to attempt to remove him from office and claiming that certain previous municipal council decisions had caused financial harm to the municipality.
