Milo Infante and Salvo Sottile clash over Rai's 'Ore 14' after Infante's move to Mediaset

Veteran Rai journalist Milo Infante announced his departure from the public broadcaster after 22 years to join Mediaset. In an interview with *Il Messaggero* he said he left the network for professional growth, not for money, and criticised the decision to keep the programme title “Ore 14” unchanged, likening it to the retirement of a football jersey.

Salvo Sottile, named as Infante’s successor on “Ore 14”, responded on social media, calling the AI‑generated promotional image of himself “a bit sad” and retorting that “the jerseys are retired when you are called Maradona, Totti or Baresi, not when you change employer.” He emphasized that the programme name is a brand owned by the Rai, not the presenter, and defended Infante’s market‑driven move as legitimate.

The exchange also touched on Infante’s upcoming Mediaset projects, including a new morning show on Rete 4 tentatively titled “Ore 11”. Both journalists used the debate to stress respect for the long‑standing format while highlighting the personal nature of the transition.
