Days before the event, Janičić said Montenegro’s authorities refused to approve his request to wear the country’s emblem on his fight gear, accusing officials of unnecessary delays and political motives. He linked the dispute to Montenegro’s recent recognition of Kosovo, calling the denial “not accidental,” and appealed for fan support in Serbia.
