Miloš Kos apologizes for assault on teammate Matej Mandić
Serbian handball player Miloš Kos has issued a public apology regarding a violent incident in November 2024 that occurred in the locker room of the Croatian club RK Zagreb. Speaking on the podcast ‘Kontranapad’, Kos expressed deep regret for physically attacking his teammate and childhood friend, goalkeeper Matej Mandić.
The altercation, which followed a Champions League match against Nantes, escalated from a verbal dispute over Kos's performance into a physical assault. Mandić suffered a fractured cheekbone that required surgery and forced him to miss the 2025 World Championship. Croatian player Zvonimir Srna reportedly intervened during the conflict to prevent further injury.
Kos described his actions as the result of being ‘young and immature’ and stated that he does not want the incident to define the remainder of his professional career. He offered apologies to Mandić, his family, and the club.
