Central European politics: Zeman's candidacy and regional elections

Political developments are unfolding across the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In the Czech Republic, former President Miloš Zeman has indicated he is considering a candidacy for the presidency again, despite previous remarks supporting Radka Vondráčka.

Local municipal elections are also approaching in several Czech towns. In Mělník, 190 candidates from ten lists are competing, featuring various political coalitions and new leadership. In Teplice, the candidate pool includes a wide demographic range, from 18-year-old students to 83-year-old seniors. In Napajedla, current mayor Robert Podlas has announced he will not seek reelection, leaving the leadership to compete among eight political groups.

In Slovakia, Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár has emphasized a foreign policy based on dialogue and international law. He criticized the West for a perceived double standard and argued for maintaining diplomatic relations with various global powers, including Russia, China, and India, to address global instability.
