Milojko Spajić accused of being a member of the Serbian Army
Milan Knežević, leader of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), has presented documents alleging that Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić is a member of the Serbian Army's reserve forces. Knežević claims the documents show Spajić requested to be included in the Serbian military registry in February 2023 and received confirmation from the Serbian Ministry of Defense.
Knežević argued that it is a conflict of interest for the Prime Minister of a NATO member state to serve in the reserve forces of Serbia, a militarily neutral country, while also chairing the National Security Council. He further alleged that Spajić’s political rise was heavily supported by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) has called for Spajić’s resignation, describing the situation as an unprecedented scandal and a flagrant conflict of interest. The opposition maintains that Spajić cannot legally or politically remain in his position given his alleged military ties to another state.
