Milorad Dodik emphasizes role of Serbian Orthodox Church

Milorad Dodik, president of the SNSD, stated in Banja Luka that the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) is essential to the survival of the Serbian people. Following a meeting with Metropolitan Lukijan of Budim, Dodik asserted that the church is a unified institution that cannot be divided territorially or otherwise.

Dodik argued that throughout history, efforts have been made to alter Serbian identity and faith, but the SPC has remained a dominant force and a spiritual guide for maintaining national unity. He noted that the church serves as a vital institution for managing historical religious sites and preserving heritage, particularly in areas where the Serbian presence is smaller.
