Milorad Dodik says EU humiliates Western Balkans, cites 49,000 migrants entering Schengen in one day
Milorad Dodik, the president of Republika Srpska, posted on X criticizing the Schengen system and the European Union's treatment of Western Balkan citizens. He claimed that 49,000 migrants entered the Schengen zone in a single day without passports, photographs, or fingerprint checks, and said the EU humiliates travelers from the region who hold biometric passports. Dodik praised border closures by countries such as Serbia, Croatia and Hungary, and said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban faced political pressure over his migration policy. He also referenced Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s demand to suspend Spain from the Schengen agreement and accused the EU of wasting €16 billion on policies that harm people from the Western Balkans.
