The $940 million Milton-Ulladulla bypass project has reached a major milestone with the release of its Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for public exhibition. The proposed 12-kilometre bypass will run west of the Milton and Ulladulla town centres, extending from Little Forest Road in the north to Canberra Crescent in the south.

NSW Minister for Roads Jenny Aitchison noted that the project aims to remove heavy vehicles and through-traffic from town centres to improve local travel and safety. The design includes infrastructure for fauna movement, walking and cycling links, and features to support emergency services. The bypass is intended to separate local trips from through-traffic on the Princes Highway.

Community concerns identified in the EIS include pedestrian and cyclist safety, environmental impacts on national parks and wildlife corridors, property acquisition, and the protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage. The public exhibition period for the EIS and concept design is open until October 19, 2026.
