Miltos Tentoglou sets world‑leading 8.61 m jump to win Monaco Diamond League

Greek Olympic champion Miltos Tentoglou dominated the men’s long jump at the Diamond League meet in Monaco, winning with a world‑leading leap of 8.61 m. The jump, recorded on his sixth and final attempt, was the best performance of the 2026 season and the second‑best of his career, moving him to the top of the global rankings.

Tentoglou opened the competition with jumps of 8.48 m and 8.52 m, followed by 8.34 m and 8.49 m before delivering the decisive 8.61 m effort. He finished ahead of Jamaica’s Wayne Pinnock (8.39 m) and Cuba’s Lester Lescay (8.38 m). In post‑event comments, Tentoglou said he was in “excellent condition” and expressed a goal of reaching 8.70 m later in the season.

The performance was highlighted by the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) as a statement of his dominance ahead of upcoming major championships, underscoring his status as the sport’s leading long‑jumper.
