Miltos Tentoglou nominated for European Athlete of the Year

Greek long jumper Miltos Tentoglou has been named one of the ten nominees for the 2026 European Athlete of the Year. His nomination follows a highly successful season in which he recorded 15 wins and 20 podium finishes across 21 competitions, including a new Greek national record of 8.66 meters.

Tentoglou is competing against nine other elite athletes, including Armand Duplantis and Simon Ehammer. The final selection will be determined by four equal components, each weighted at 25%: a public vote, member federations of European Athletics, media representatives, and an expert committee.

The public voting period is currently open and will conclude on September 29. The three finalists across all categories will be announced on October 1, with the ultimate winners to be revealed during the Golden Tracks awards ceremony in Lausanne, Switzerland, on October 24. Additionally, Greek athlete Eleni Iakovaki has been named a nominee in the Women’s Rising Star category.
