Milva: The legendary Italian singer and theatrical icon

Milva, born Maria Ilva Biolcati in Goro in 1939, was a prominent Italian singer and theatrical performer whose career spanned sixty years. Known by nicknames such as ‘la Rossa’ and ‘la Pantera di Goro’, she achieved significant international recognition, performing across Europe.

Her musical legacy is closely tied to the Sanremo Music Festival, where she participated fifteen times between her debut in 1961 and 2007. While she did not win the festival, she secured numerous podium finishes, including a third-place result in 1961 with ‘Il mare nel cassetto’.

Beyond pop music, Milva was noted for her versatility, bridging the gap between song and theater through her interpretations of works by Bertolt Brecht. Her extensive discography includes over one hundred albums, ranging from lyrical and pop styles to avant-garde theater and cabaret.
