Milwaukee Brewers players pursue historic MLB record

Four Venezuelan players on the Milwaukee Brewers roster—Jackson Chourio, William Contreras, Antonio Senzatela, and the injured reliever Ángel Zerpa—are positioned to achieve a rare baseball milestone. If the Brewers win the upcoming MLB World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays, these players would become the first Latin American athletes to win both the World Baseball Classic and the MLB World Series in the same calendar year.

This feat has only occurred once in history, achieved in 2017 by American players Alex Bregman and Luke Gregerson after winning both titles. While 27 players have won both championships at different points in their careers, the specific achievement of winning both in a single year remains exceptionally rare.
