Milwaukee Bucks face NBA investigation over Gary Trent Jr. contract

The NBA is investigating the Milwaukee Bucks regarding potential salary cap circumvention involving a four-year, $64 million contract signed by veteran guard Gary Trent Jr. The league is examining whether there was an underlying agreement for Trent Jr. to accept lower initial wages in exchange for the more lucrative long-term deal.

During media day, Bucks general manager Jon Horst defended the decision to re-sign the 27-year-old, describing him as an “elite shooter” and noting his value in playoff moments despite a recent statistical decline where he averaged 8.1 points per game.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has suggested that the situation could be “disastrous” for the franchise if the NBA imposes penalties similar to those previously handed to the Los Angeles Clippers.
