Mimika police arrest three suspects for illegal ammunition trafficking

The Damai Cartenz 2026 Task Force has detained three individuals in Mimika, Central Papua, for their alleged involvement in the illegal possession and distribution of ammunition. The suspects, identified by the initials DRW (24), PY (23), and GT (25), were apprehended on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Authorities seized 71 rounds of ammunition, including 67 rounds of 5.56 mm live ammunition, three rounds of 5.56 mm rubber ammunition, and one 5.56 mm blank round. Investigators also confiscated a motorcycle and a mobile phone. Preliminary findings suggest that DRW and PY acted as couriers for GT, who is suspected of selling the ammunition.

Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the specific roles of each individual and to identify any other parties involved in the illegal ammunition network.
