Mimika Police destroy 161 grams of seized marijuana
The Mimika Police Department destroyed 161.37 grams of marijuana on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, following a narcotics investigation in Timika. The destruction took place at the Mimika Police Headquarters and was attended by representatives from the Mimika District Attorney's Office, the Mimika District Court, and the BNN Mimika Regency.
The case involves a female suspect identified by the initials EM, also known as Lisa, who was arrested on August 20, 2026, in the Irigasi area of Timika. Authorities intercepted the suspect after she collected a package sent from Jayapura via an express delivery service. The package contained 10 plastic bags of marijuana.
Of the original 163.37 grams seized, 1 gram was reserved for forensic laboratory testing in Jayapura and 1 gram for court evidence, while the remaining 161.37 grams were destroyed. The estimated market value of the drugs is approximately Rp41 million. Police are currently pursuing two other suspects, identified as O and D, who are on the wanted list.
