Italy hosts various cultural awards and artistic performances

Various cultural events and awards are taking place across Italy. In Messina, playwright Mimmo Borrelli has been awarded the 2026 L'Ombra di Dioniso International Theater Prize for his artistic contributions and research into Neapolitan culture.

In the literary sphere, Lio Fiorentino won first place in the Italian Language – Short Story section of the 16th Mare Nostrum International Prize for his work ‘A volte il viandante’. He will also receive the special ‘Sergio Denaro’ award for his poetic activity.

Musical and theatrical performances include a jazz concert by the Orchestra Invisibile, which features musicians with autism, and a series of workshops in Iglesias titled ‘Personaggi in cerca di Autore’. Additionally, the Teatro Giuditta Pasta in Saronno is launching its ‘Radici’ season with a production by I Legnanesi, while Chieti’s Teatro Marrucino will present an opera based on Pinocchio to mark the bicentennial of Carlo Collodi’s birth.

In Oliveto Citra, the Sele d’Oro Mezzogiorno Prize concludes its 42nd edition with a concert titled ‘Mediterranei – Osare la Pace’, featuring artists Amara, Ermal Meta, and Fabrizio Moro to support a Nobel Peace Prize candidacy for Rami Elhanan and Bassam Aramin.
