Mina to release new album featuring rare Sicilian track

Italian singer Mina is set to release a new ten-track album titled “Dilettevoli inedite eccedenze” on October 9. This release serves as the third volume in a series dedicated to bringing previously unreleased recordings from the artist’s archives to the public.

The album features a diverse tracklist, including works by Pino Daniele, Jimmy Fontana, and Henri Salvador. A notable highlight is “Carrettieri,” a song written by Alfonso Gibilaro in 1949. Originally recorded by tenor Beniamino Gigli, the track was recorded by Mina in the 1970s but has never been released on an album until now. This marks the first time a song in the Sicilian language will appear on one of Mina's studio albums.

Massimiliano Pani, Mina’s son and producer, described the project as a collection of wonderful songs that the artist felt deserved to be heard. He noted that the album showcases Mina’s desire to explore various genres and styles, emphasizing her artistic freedom and curiosity.
