Minang Geopark Run attracts 5,000 participants in Bukittinggi

Approximately 5,000 participants gathered in Bukittinggi for the 7th Minang Geopark Run in 2026. The event, held at the Jam Gadang plaza in front of the Bung Hatta Palace, serves as a strategic platform to promote the natural beauty, culture, and culinary heritage of West Sumatra.

West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah encouraged participants, many of whom traveled from neighboring provinces such as Riau, North Sumatra, and Jambi, to explore the region's tourism and local Minangkabau cuisine. The Governor noted that such sporting events provide significant economic momentum and highlight the geological and cultural wealth of the area. Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya was also in attendance at the event.
