Minas Gerais announces major renovation of Palácio das Artes

The Government of Minas Gerais has announced the largest renovation of the Palácio das Artes in nearly 30 years. The project will begin with the Grande Teatro Cemig, the cultural complex's primary performance space.

Approximately R$ 10 million will be provided by the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG) through the Semente Platform to fund this initial stage. The revitalization efforts include modernizing infrastructure, improving accessibility and security, and preserving the venue's architectural features. Specific works involve replacing seats, restoring the stage and auditorium floors, replacing carpets, and renewing electrical infrastructure.

The project is a collaborative effort between the State Secretariat of Culture and Tourism (Secult-MG), the Clóvis Salgado Foundation (FCS), and the MPMG. Following a bidding process to select a contractor, the works are expected to last between five and seven months. This intervention is part of a broader plan to restore and requalify the entire cultural complex.
