Minas Gerais boosts cancer care with new hospital complex and expanded patient‑support foundation

The non‑profit Fundação Pró‑Curar‑Se in Patos de Minas has been assisting cancer patients for 26 years, now serving around 600 registered patients from 32 municipalities. The center provides 30 rooms, nightly caregiver support, about 100 daily meals and a range of therapeutic activities, relying on 15 staff members and roughly 50 volunteers.

In Divinópolis, the Associação de Combate ao Câncer do Centro‑Oeste de Minas and São João de Deus Complexo de Saúde laid the cornerstone for a major expansion of the Hospital do Câncer. The R$ 100 million project will enlarge the facility from 5,000 to 20,000 m², adding 176 beds, a surgical suite, adult and pediatric intensive care units, PET‑CT, endoscopy, and over 20 consulting rooms. The upgraded complex aims to serve patients from 53 municipalities across the central‑west of Minas Gerais, enhancing diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation capacity.
