Minas Gerais construction sector slows, GDP down 3.7% in Q1 2026

The construction industry in Brazil's Minas Gerais state entered a downturn in 2026, with the sector's Gross Domestic Product falling 3.7% in the first quarter, according to the Construction Bulletin released by the FIEMG Economics Management. By contrast, the national construction sector grew 1.3% in the same period, and activity in the state declined 0.2% versus a 2.9% increase across Brazil.
