Minas Gerais expands gastronomic tourism and olive oil production

The state of Minas Gerais is expanding its gastronomic tourism and agricultural diversity. The Rota do Queijo de Minas is launching its seventh circuit, featuring six farms in the Zona da Mata region. Additionally, a new 'Circuito de Caves' has been inaugurated at the Santuário Basílica Nossa Senhora da Piedade in Caeté, dedicated to the tasting of Queijo Frei Rosário and other local products.

Beyond traditional cheese production, the region is gaining international recognition for its olive oil. Producers in the Mantiqueira de Minas and southern regions are leveraging the unique terroir—characterized by high altitudes and significant thermal amplitude—to produce award-winning oils. For instance, the Carcará olive oil from the Cruzziléia farm in Cruzília and Aiuruoca has seen significant production growth and international accolades despite recent weather challenges.
