Brazil election candidates intensify 2026 campaign activities

As the 2026 election cycle intensifies in Brazil, various candidates are mobilizing across different states. Presidential candidates have already spent R$ 154 million, with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva leading expenditures at R$ 65.6 million, followed by Flávio Bolsonaro at R$ 55.3 million and Ronaldo Caiado at R$ 24.2 million. Legal fees represent a significant portion of these costs, totaling R$ 217.5 million nationwide.

Regional campaigns are also active. In Rio de Janeiro, Douglas Ruas and Eduardo Paes account for 92% of declared government expenses. In Acre, Mailza Assis is emphasizing political alliances, while Tião Bocalom has received support from businessman Mário Gazin. In Amazonas, David Almeida held a large motorcade in Manaus. Meanwhile, in Rio Grande do Norte, Álvaro Dias conducted a campaign caravan through the Médio Oeste region.

Legal and judicial matters are also surfacing in the electoral process. In Acre, the Electoral Court ordered the removal of unproven accusations against Alan Rick. In Pernambuco, candidate Mendonça highlighted his experience during a walk in Paudalho, and in Alagoas, Glauber Braga declared support for Alexandre Fleming to counter local political oligarchies.
