Minas Gerais gubernatorial debate scheduled for September 1

A televised and radio debate for the Minas Gerais governorship has been scheduled for September 1 at 8:00 PM. Organized by TMC Minas and TV SIM Brasil, the event will take place in Belo Horizonte and be broadcast via digital platforms and radio frequency TMC 88.7 FM.

The debate occurs during a critical phase of the electoral race, following the start of free electoral advertising on August 28 and approximately one month before the first round of elections on October 4. Candidates will be in the midst of their official campaigns, as the deadline for party registration with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) is August 15.

Key candidates mentioned include the current interim governor Mateus Simões (PSD), Cleitinho Azevedo (Republicanos), Alexandre Kalil (PDT), Patrus Ananias (PT), and Flávio Roscoe (PL).

Mateus Simões, a lawyer and university professor, is currently serving as the interim governor. He holds a master's degree in Business Law and serves as a prosecutor for the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais (ALMG).
