Minas Gerais intercity bus fares increase following state adjustment
Intercity bus fares in Minas Gerais have increased following a resolution by the State Secretariat of Infrastructure, Mobility, and Partnerships (Seinfra). The average adjustment for services on paved highways is 6.705%, while conventional services using unpaved roads face an increase of up to 7.496%.
In the Ouro Preto and Mariana regions, the price changes affect lines operated by companies such as Viação Pássaro Verde and Transcotta. For example, a conventional trip from Belo Horizonte to Ouro Preto now costs R$ 65.20, while a trip to Mariana costs R$ 74.00 for conventional service and R$ 94.94 for executive service.
The impact on passengers varies depending on the distance, service category (conventional, commercial, sleeper, or executive), and specific route. Additionally, costs such as tolls, ferry fees, and terminal boarding taxes may be charged separately from the base fare.
