Minas Gerais launches Simave educational evaluations

The Minas Gerais State Department of Education (SEE/MG) has launched the Simave evaluations, a system designed to assess public education equity and learning progress. The assessments, which include Portuguese Language and Mathematics, are scheduled to take place primarily between October 19 and October 30, with a final deadline of November 6.

In the state school system, students in the 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 9th years of elementary school, as well as the 2nd and 3rd years of high school, will participate. Municipal networks that have joined the program will include students from the 2nd, 5th, and 9th years of elementary school. A digital application format will be utilized for 8th-grade elementary and 2nd-year high school students across 24 Regional Education Superintendencies.

Danielle Chaves, director of Educational Systems Evaluation at SEE/MG, stated that the goal is to ensure organized application so that results can identify challenges and guide pedagogical planning for 2027. The evaluations for 2nd-grade students are particularly critical for monitoring literacy rates.
