Minas Gerais Legislature Passes amendment to Safeguard Hospital Funding

The Minas Gerais State Assembly approved Amendment No. 1 to Complementary Bill 63/21, aimed at protecting public transfers to charitable hospitals and sanatoriums. Sponsored by Deputy Arnaldo Silva (União), the amendment makes it illegal to withhold or misuse health funds allocated to SUS complementary units, requiring transfers to be completed within five days of receipt. It also adds such infractions to the list of irregularities that can deem public officials' accounts non‑compliant. The amendment, a formal correction of the bill’s wording, now returns to the Health Committee for a second‑round opinion before a final plenary vote.
