Enem 2026: Preparation and updates for Brazil's national exam

As the 2026 Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (Enem) approaches, scheduled for November 8 and 15, various educational updates and preparation strategies are emerging for Brazilian students.

A significant change for 2026 is the automatic enrollment of public high school graduates by Inep. In Minas Gerais, the State Education Secretariat is mobilizing students to confirm their participation and select a foreign language by October 18. In Paraíba, over 140,000 students are registered, with a high percentage receiving free registration.

Preparation resources include free online mock exams, such as those provided by Brasil Escola, and specialized review content covering World History and Languages. Experts emphasize that text interpretation is the cornerstone of the Languages exam, advising students to focus on reading commands first to save time. For the essay component, platforms like ‘Lá Vem o Enem’ are offering free corrections on themes such as neurodiversity inclusion.

Looking toward the future, a major reform is planned for 2028, which will introduce open-ended questions to the exam to encourage problem-solving and critical thinking, moving beyond the current multiple-choice format.
