Minas Gerais officials discuss female protection for 2027 World Cup
The Minister of Women, Márcia Helena Carvalho Lopes, visited the Sala Lilás at the Mineirão stadium in Belo Horizonte to discuss female protection measures for the 2027 Women's World Cup. The initiative aims to evaluate the Minas Gerais model of specialized assistance for women facing harassment, sexual importunity, racism, and other forms of gender-based violence during sporting events.
The visit involved various state entities, including the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais, the Court of Justice, the Public Defender's Office, and civil and military police. The Ministry of Women is currently assessing the possibility of expanding this humanized service model to other arenas hosting the 2027 tournament to ensure safety for female spectators.
