Minas Gerais olive oils win CNA Brazil Artisanal Award
Two olive oils from southern Minas Gerais have won the Brazil Artisanal Award in the olive oil category, organized by the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA). The competition evaluated 85 samples through technical and popular juries, selecting the top five in each category.
In the Varietal category, the Alto das Oliveiras oil from Delfim Moreira took first place. It was produced using the Grappolo 541 cultivar, which was improved and registered by the Minas Gerais Agricultural Research Company (Epamig). The production follows biodynamic practices on a three-hectare site managed by José Martins Diogo de Siqueira Filho and Marciane Oliveira.
The Mantikir oil from Maria da Fé won in the Blend category. The event was supported by Epamig, which collaborated with the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre (UFCSPA), and the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) to establish evaluation criteria and technical support.
