Minas Gerais implements new education, social, and regional development initiatives

The Government of Minas Gerais is implementing several state-level initiatives across education, social services, and regional development.

The Trilhas de Futuro program has opened registrations for its 7th edition, offering approximately 50,000 free technical course vacancies across 130 subjects in 181 municipalities. Eligible students may receive a daily allowance of R$ 20 for food and transport. Simultaneously, the State Secretariat of Education is mobilizing municipal and state networks to ensure student participation in the Simave 2026 evaluations, which are critical for measuring literacy and educational equity.

In social policy, the State Secretariat of Social Development (Sedese) has launched a public consultation to help construct the State Care Plan, seeking input from citizens and organizations. Additionally, the State Ombudsman (OGE/MG) is inviting citizens over 16 to join its Users Council to monitor and improve public service quality.

Economic and infrastructure developments include the formation of a Technical Chamber for the Central Mineira region to boost agribusiness through public-private partnerships. Furthermore, the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), the Ministry of Education, and the Minas Gerais government have signed a cooperation agreement to establish a University Hospital in Viçosa.

On the fiscal front, new regulations from the State Secretariat of Finance (SEF-MG) have restricted IPVA and licensing fee refunds to cases of duplicate or excess payments, preventing the reversal of previously settled debts.
