Political activity in Minas Gerais intensifies as candidates for governor debate the state's management and economic future. Separately, the region faces environmental concerns as Belo Horizonte and 461 municipalities in Minas Gerais were placed under weather alerts for intense rainfall. Heavy storms in the Barreiro region of Belo Horizonte have already caused significant damage, with some areas receiving over 80% of their expected monthly rainfall in just two hours.
